At ‘t Achterhuis you are guaranteed to succeed for a unique table. Because of its robust character and high quality, a large part of our range is made of oak. Especially old oak dining tables have been very popular for years and can easily last for decades. Besides oak dining tables we also have many old pine tables. Pine tables or pine in general is softer than oak and also slightly more yellow in color. The choice for an antique oak table or old pine dining table is of course also a matter of taste and the interior.

Antique monastery table as dining table or conference table

A sea typical dining table is surely the wooden monastery table, also called castle table. Characteristic for a monastery table are the robust (column) legs and the sturdy tabletop. The legs are placed in the middle of the table and are often connected with a crossbeam over the bottom. Usually the wooden monastery table is made of oak. The characteristics of this type of wood enhance the desired character of the monastery table: robust, sturdy and authentic. Besides the most common straight sides, there are also round monastery tables. A monastery table is ideal for use as a large conference table, but of course also as a dining table.
